Welcome!
I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Previously, I have served as a Kluge Fellow at the Library of Congress, a Visiting Scholar in the Global Food Ethics and Policy Program at Johns Hopkins University, a Visiting Fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University, an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology fellow working in the Office of Food for Peace at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and a postdoctoral fellow at the Watson Institute of International and Public Affairs at Brown University. Beginning July 2024, I have been invited to serve as Policy Advisor for the Office of Global Food Security at the U.S. Department of State. During my tenure there, I will be on leave from UMass Boston.
My research interests include international food security, ethics, economic and social rights, and human security. I received my PhD
in Political Science from the George Washington University, my MA from
Cal State LA, and hail from Fresno, CA, where I completed my BA at
Fresno State through the Smittcamp Family Honors College.
